But do they determine your intelligence, or the intelligence of those testing you?
For example, a tester presents the following question:
“Heptagon, Pentagon, Triangle, ____________?” and gives the answer options of Circle, Rhombus, Hexagon, Digon or Parallelogram.
After thought one may confidently state “Digon”, because the number of sides of each shape corresponds to prime numbers in reverse order; 7, 5, 3 and 2.
After presenting a “correct” answer to this problem one may feel a surge of intellect and intelligence, but now the tester has his little fish hooked… because the order of heptagon, pentagon, triangle and digon has no basis in rationale other than as determined by the tester. The tester has created an irrational concept and is compelling the testee to believe that this concept not only has merit but is directly related to the “intelligence quotient” of the testee.
Based on the premise set by the first problem, the tester can now build upon this irrational concept:
Digon (X) = Square. Solve for X: Hexagon, Pentagon, Triangle, Digon, Square.
Every rational individual knows that digon x digon does not equal square, but in this test of “intelligence”, the testee is forced to conform to irrational concepts in order to attain the perceived merit that a “correct” answer would bring.
So they answer “Digon”, and on and on until the testee’s conformity to the tester’s irrational logic becomes indistinguishable from the testee’s idea of “intelligence”.
In other words, conformity = “intelligence”.
So as we view those in our society who have been placed in positions of authority by measure of “pedigree” and “intelligence” and wonder how our nations and cultures are being made to slowly erode around us while our infrastructures crumble, perhaps we should look beyond those new-genius testees who have been anointed as our leaders and wonder –
